Peter Wells, member of the Australian Everest 2010 Team has just completed a mammoth endurance event by paddling over 320 km’s from Foster to Wollongong, as part of their fundraising efforts for Bowel Cancer Australia.
Pete set off on Saturday 28th of November, and over 8 days covered the 320km paddle. 320 represents the number of people in Australia who die from bowel cancer every month.
Taking advantage of a strong tailwind, Pete covered a massive 78km on his first day, commeting that he would paddle until “he dropped, or the wind shifted around to the South.”
The next day the weather turned on them, they had to contend with 20 knot head winds and 4 metre swell, but valiantly managed 90km, only to get up early the next day and do it all over again.
The final day of paddling, was in near perfect conditions with Pete arriving at his desitnation, Shellharbour Beach in Wollongong to a supportive crowd and interested local media.
Col Crawford Motors (major sponsor of the Australian Everest 2010 Team) extend their congratulations to Pete on his acheivment, and raising much need funds for Bowel Cancer Australia. 100% of funds raised during Paddle 320 go directly to BCA, with the team aiming to donate over $250k to the charity.
