Cruising in the Cruze
Holden has been around for a long time now, and consistently produce iconic vehicles. The Commodore, Barina, Astra, Statesman, Colorado – all leaders in their class. And with the launch of their new Cruze I think they have done it again. The new Cruze is the new small car for Holden. A fantastic car that I predict will be a hugely popular car.
It is absolutely loaded with features, most standard and is a great car to drive. I took one for a weekend, and it was great car for me and the family. This is a serious 5 seater car, it has ample room to fit us all in, surprisingly generous head, shoulder and leg room for a small car. And we loved the sizable 400 litre boot, that’s a big boot for a small car! All the boys stuff fitted in no problem.
It has all the power to get us around no problems, having a 4 cylinder 1,8L ECOTEC engine which is an advanced 16-valve engine that produces great performance across the range. There is also a diesel option which boasts 2.0 litre Turbo diesel and is also part of the Holden Ecoline range. All this adds up to less emissions and more dollars in your wallet through greater fuel efficiencies.
The kids loved all the interconnectivity bit and bobs, immediately commandeering the music by simply plugging their ipod in, so we were then “blessed” to have teenage music from then on. Sound quality of the stereo was given the thumbs up. The theatre lighting, Graphic Information Display and ice blue dash illumination also got the “cool” vote.
Other little touches that made it for me a standout were the duel bezel headlights that activate and deactivate automatically according to ambient light levels, heatable exterior mirrors, yes the outside mirros heat up so you will never be caught out not seeing in your mirrors on frosty mornings French seam stitching.
I am also seriously impressed with the safety profile of the Cruze, it boatsts the highest level attainable – a 5 star ANCAP rating. There is everything from Electronic Stability Control (ESC), 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS Anti-lock braking system, traction control, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, front and rear crumple zones, full size airbags, safety diagnostic module – the list goes on. The Cruze has serious protection, massively punching above its weight.
Looks damn good, drives so well, safe, loaded with extra feauttres – I can’t fault it.
The Cruze is available to test drive at our Brookvale Holden dealership. Corner Cross & Pittwater Roads.
